Harris Partnership helping Aldi expansion plans
Wakefield-headquartered architects' practice The Harris Partnership has won a string of instructions from expanding discount food retailer Aldi.
The Harris Partnership will carry out design work for several stores in the Yorkshire region, together with some in other areas of the UK. The instructions follow previous commissions awarded to the practice by Aldi over a 20-year period.
The Yorkshire work includes 15,000 sq ft store in Guiseley, which forms part of a larger scheme on land around the original Harry Ramsden's restaurant.
Other Yorkshire Aldi stores which have just commenced construction are located in Barnsley and Dinnington, while those about to go on site include two stores in Sheffield, one in Leeds and one in Middleton.
Nick Charlesworth, group director of The Harris Partnership, said: "We're delighted to have secured further work from Aldi who have been a retained client for many years.
"We've played an instrumental role in developing the company’s signature design here in the UK –contemporary design that conveys a very distinctive style, and which is immediately recognizable by consumers.
"We are developing new stores on considerably varied sites, so there is a good deal of effort put into maintaining the strong design identity while complementing the surrounding environment, and meeting key planning criteria."
