Morris & Son relocates Stockley’s

Morris & Son has relocated subsidiary Stockley’s Sweets to a 20,000 sq ft premises in Shadsworth House, Blackburn. The Leeds-based stock manufacturer has invested £200,000 in a new manufacturing and packing facility at the site.

Previously Stockley’s was based in Accrington, Morris & Son bought it out of administration for an undisclosed fee in November 2009, saving 38 jobs.

Stockley’s entire operations have been transferred to the new site. The company was provided with a new working capital facility after it was bought.

Andy Needham, chairman of Stockley’s and managing director of Morris & Son, said: “The new factory has allowed us to streamline our operations, reduce transportation and duplicated costs whilst providing us with the breathing space we need as we look to future growth.

“It’s a significant move for the business which will vastly improve our efficiency going forward, but also reflects the business’s strong performance over recent months.”

When Needham bought Stockley’s, he said the company “has always been a very solid business that was unfortunately dragged into problems caused by the failure of its parent company”.
