Developer Helium Miracle 113 has won a contract to build the next phase of the International Sports Village (ISV) in Cardiff.

The building will feature a twin pad ice arena, a 150 metre snow slope, hotel, bars and restaurants.

The company, a subsidiary of Greenbank Partnerships, was chosen by Cardiff Council as a development partner to build ISV.

"Our scheme is designed in close liaison with operators to deliver a step change in the quality of international sports and leisure provision, which will build upon Cardiff's already excellent reputation as a capital of tourism and culture," said Helium Miracle development director Jonathan Smith.

The Waterfront site will be built in phases, with the ice arena and ski slope first followed by a multi-storey car park, hotel, bars, restaurants, leisure facilities and retail.

Design work is due to begin on the ice arena immediately with completion targeted in time for all or most of the 2013/2014 ice hockey season.

Paul Ragan, owner of the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team, said: "This is absolutely fabulous news for the Cardiff Devils, the Devils Community Foundation and future development of all ice sports throughout South Wales."
