Thorncliffe pumps cash into expansion plans
Thorncliffe Building Supplies has expanded into new premises at Ewloe Barn Industrial Estate in Flintshire after a £3m investment supported by Barclays Corporate.
The business said the new building supplies outlet would complement its operation in Dyserth and waste recycling plants at Ewloe and Abergele.
Established in 1987, the £14m-turnover Thorncliffe employs 106 staff.
"The new premises give us access to consumers and trade customers along the North Wales corridor from Caernarfon to the Wirral and into Wrexham and Cheshire," said managing director Tim Harper.
He added: “In 2008 turnover significantly dropped due to the global recession and downturn in the construction sector, however our diversification into waste recycling and our diversification of our customer base means we have been able to continue to grow.
"Our largest customer only accounts for 5 per cent of our turnover and we have a strong base of over 2500 trade customers."
