Construction company Jehu Project Services has been appointed to fit out an 11,500 sq ft Lidl supermarket in Portishead, north Somerset.

The contract for the South Wales company is set to finish at the end of March.

It is part of a larger development which includes a three-storey, 60-room Travelodge Hotel and a Subway sandwich shop outlet.

Jehu Project Services completed the construction of these units in December 2011 and work has now begun on the fit out of the Lidl store.

Jehu will install all ceramic wall and floor tiling, plaster and decorate the walls and will carry out the full mechanical and electrical installation. The company is then set to form the store layout complete with display cabinets, shelves, tills and staff areas.

Martin Workman, project manager at Jehu Project Services, said: "We have been involved in the project from the beginning, having completed the construction of the newly opened Travelodge hotel and the Lidl store itself.

"We have extensive experience in the retail sector having recently started work on a Waitrose store in Warminster as well as completing the construction and fit out of several Tesco Express Units in South Wales. It is this experience and our strong reputation in the sector that has secured this contract win."
