Wholesale revenue boosts SuperGroup income
SuperGroup's revenue for the last 13 weeks soared by more than a quarter to £102m after a boom in wholesale sales.
Retail sales at the Cheltenham-based clothes retailer hit £78.5m, a 28 per cent rise on the same 2011 period.
Group sales grew to £102.5m for the three months to 29 January, a 25.3 per cent rise.
SuperGroup said that "as expected", its wholesale division returned to growth in January with year-on-year sales up 59.2 per cent, reversing the 3.8 per cent decline in November and December.
However, the company said that after the quarter's variable performance, management have revised its profit guidance and now expects profit before tax for the full year to be towards the lower end of the range of market expectations.
The company's store roll-out continued over the period with four new stores opened including one floor of the group's Regent Street flagship store.
SuperGroup now trades from 76 UK standalone stores and 74 concessions.
Julian Dunkerton, chief executive officer, said: "Retail sales during the quarter have been mixed, with a challenging last three weeks of January.
"Whilst we continue to expand our retail, wholesale and internet businesses, our focus in the coming year will be on rolling out our new ranges in the UK and internationally and making improvements to the operational side of our business."
