Construction to begin on £10m Premier Inn
Work is set to start on a 175-bedroom Premier Inn in Bristol city centre after plans were given the green light.
Planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates, acting on behalf of Premier Inn, said construction would now being on the £10m 175-bed hotel.
An eight-storey hotel with a ground floor restaurant and bar will now open on a Lewins Mead site which lay derelict for years.
The new hotel will comply with the Bristol City Council’s environmental policies introduced through its Core Strategy in 2011, said Turley Associates.
It will comply with the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ environmental assessment standard and aims to achieve a 20 per cent reduction in carbon emissions.
Peter Lawson, associate director in Turley Associates' Bristol office said: "We are delighted with this decision. Together with new jobs, the hotel will attract significant numbers of tourists and business travellers to the city who are seeking affordable centrally located accommodation, which has to be good news for the local economy."
Earlier this month, Turley Associates won a planning appeal for a new 108-bed Premier Inn hotel in Bath.
