Planning changes for Bristol

Share | |

Bristol’s planning protocol is being revised. It is hoped the move will make it easier for investors to negotiate the planning applications process.

The Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs) sets out how a planning proposal will be managed throughout including pre-application, the formal assessment and post-decision work.

The document has been jointly signed by the Bristol Council, GWE Business West and the Bristol Property Agents Association. It aims to improve council processes and help the city secure high quality developments.

Councillor Anthony Negus, cabinet member for strategic housing and regeneration at Bristol Council, said: “Securing new investment and making high-quality design an integral part of development management are both key priorities for Bristol.

“We want to make it easier, and therefore more attractive, for businesses which are looking to develop in the city to work with us. This protocol sets out clearly how we will co-operate with them at every stage of the process.”

He added that the revised protocol would also support the importance of local communities to ensure that they were kept informed at every stage of the planning process and were afforded the chance to comment.
