Falmouth marina gets green light
A new 290-berth marina in Falmouth has been given the green flight after a three-year fight with local authorities.
A&P Ports and Properties plans to install a new 290 metre marina and floating breakwater bounded by the Queen’s, Western and Duchy wharfs.
The company said that Falmouth will now be able to attract major events such as the Tallships Races as new wharfage will be available to berth visiting ships that require alongside facilities.
The Pendennis Shipyard will benefit with super yachts being able to berth at the marina.
A&P Ports & Properties said it was pleased that the Marine Management Organisation had finally granted it a licence. “Detailed planning for the state-of-the-art Port Falmouth Marina can now resume having been put on hold since November 2007 while detailed consultation was carried by the Marine Management Organisation,” the company said in a statement.
“There has always been wide spread support for the project from among the local community.”
