Unipart signs £1.3m shared services deal
Oxford-based logistics giant Unipart has signed a two-year contract with the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) designed to provide aerospace companies with cost-cutting shared services.
The £1.3m deal is thought to be the first of its kind in the industry. It will see NWAA members working together to improve their purchasing power and secure better deals on everything from utility services and stationery to legal advice and HR.
The contract, which will be managed by Unipart, will start early next year. Paula Stell, shared services manager for the NWAA, said the project would introduce a year on year reduction of overhead and procurement costs.
“Large corporations or public sector bodies often share services, but we are bringing together separate companies all with common needs,” she said.
“The purchasing power of a group of companies will be far greater than a single member of the supply chain, and we expect there to be considerable cost savings available.”
