Freedom of Liverpool for chartered accountants
The Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA) has received the city's highest honour and given the freedom of Liverpool.
The organisation, which is more than 140-years-old, has been added to the Freedom Roll of Association and Institutions of the City of Liverpool.
The LSCA claims to be the oldest society of chartered accountants in the country and was set up by 14 gentlemen in 1870.
Liverpool's Lord Mayor, Councillor Frank Prendergast, said: "As Liverpool continues to flourish and thrive it is essential that the LSCA members continue to play a vital and proud part in our city’s history."
Martyn Best, president of the LSCA, said: "Today's world is one of continuing change and challenge where trust, integrity and confidence are seen as crucial factors amongst the business and wider community.
"The Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants strives to uphold these values and will continue to play a key role in supporting the business and financial community in our fine city."
