ScraperWiki has received investment from the North West Fund to develop more of its internet platform.
The Liverpool-based software business has received an undisclosed sum from the fund. The investment came from the North West Fund for Venture Capital which is managed by EV.
This is part of a funding round which has involved the company securing more than $1m (£630,000).
The company said to coincide with the investment they has also appointed Jane Silber, chief executive of Canonical, as chairman.
ScraperWiki chief executive Francis Irving said: "The market for business data will be fully disrupted over the next decade and we will be using this investment to drive up data accessibility and drive down the cost and effort involved in accessing the data."
ScraperWiki was founded by Aidan McGuire and Julian Todd. Stuart Scott Goldstone of Aarons advised EV on the investment, while Gary Jones of Weightmans advised ScraperWiki.
