Work starts on £5m Liverpool health centre

Share | |

Construction of a new £5m health centre is underway in Liverpool's largest regeneration zone in Kensington.

The centre is being developed by LSHP and has been designed by Liverpool-based architects' firm Taylor Young.

Gideon Ben-Tovim, chairman of Liverpool PCT, said: "This is an exciting development for the people of Kensington and forms a key part of plans to regenerate the surrounding area. Historically, Kensington has not enjoyed the same good health as other parts of the city and we hope this new centre will act as a catalyst for driving health and wellbeing improvements."

Councillor Malcolm Kennedy, Liverpool City Council cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "I’m really pleased that work on this fantastic scheme is now underway. The new centre will provide an invaluable resource for local people and is the latest piece in the jigsaw for Kensington’s regeneration."

The health centre is a part of the £350m Edge Lane project which will create new housing and more than 1 million sq ft of commercial and retail floor space.
