McKeever makes WEMS move

Former Styles & Wood chief executive Ivan McKeever has joined Stockport-based Adam International. One of his first tasks has been to oversee a rebranding of the company, which will now be known as WEMSinternational.

McKeever announced his departure from Altrincham fit-out business Styles & Wood last December after leading the business through a refinancing and helping it return to profit. He has now joined the WEMS board of directors.

McKeever said the company, which manufactures wireless building energy management systems, is planning an ambitious expansion drive to double turnover in the next three years. The business expects sales to hit £12m in 2011.

“Energy costs have risen by 25 per cent in the last three years and government legislation is set to increase carbon tax for UK businesses,” he said. “With these macro economics working against UK businesses, the only viable solution is to reduce energy usage.

“Currently, 80 per cent of all buildings in the UK have no energy management systems in place. The most cost-effective way to deal with this is by retro-fitting a wireless system, because it causes little disruption to the fabric of the building, it is faster to implement and it’s much cheaper than conventional wired systems.

“As the only manufacturer and installer of wireless BEMS in the world, in the coming years we predict a sharp increase in the demand for our systems, and with it, significant opportunity for the company.”
