Shred-it heads for Wales

Manchester-based Shred-it has taken over Cardiff-based South Wales Shredding. The new acquisition, which operates from the Garth Estate in Taffs Well, Cardiff, brings the number of Shred-it locations in Wales to two. It has 17 sites across the UK.

According to Shred-it, South Wales Shredding provides "secure on and off site collection and the disposal of confidential waste". It serves the whole of the South Wales and South West England region.

Shred-it says South Wales Shredding's core service is very similar to its own.

The move follows the opening of Shred-it’s first branch in Wales in Bridgend in January. It says that over the last year, Shred-it’s customer base across the South Wales region has grown by more than 70 per cent.

Robert Guice, executive vice-president of Shred-it, said: “We are very pleased to have made this key acquisition in Cardiff. It will allow us to enhance the services we can provide to our existing customers based in and around the capital.

"It will give us immediate and additional resource to expand beyond our location in Bridgend and take on more customers in South Wales. We are committed to continuity of service for all our customers and look forward to working with our new customers to meet their document destruction needs."
