CSC shareholders approve Peel deal
Shareholders of the shopping centre business behind the Metrocentre in Gateshead and Newcastle's Eldon Square have voted to approve a deal to acquire two sites from the Peel Group.
More than 90 per cent of votes cast supported Capital Shopping Centre's £4.7m planned acquisition of a 30-acre site in Glasgow.
The second deal, to buy sites in Malaga in Spain in a £2.08m deal, received approval after more than 80 per cent of votes cast supported the plans.
There had been reports that some shareholders would abstain from the vote. US-based Simon Property Group said it would vote against the deal and called it a "sweetheart deal" based on Peel's links with CSC.
More than 20 million votes were withheld over the Spanish acquisition.
CSC owns 14 shopping centres across the UK.
