Rastrick scoops four dealmaker prizes
John Rastrick of Phoenix Equity Partners has been named Dealmaker of the Year, one of four prizes he scooped at the prestigious Insider Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2010. Rastrick, who led the management buyout of Andrew Page, was presented with the award in front of more than 550 professionals at the Royal Armouries Museum, Saviles Hall, Leeds. Comic Rory Bremner was compére for the evening, which raised money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Yorkshire Business Insider editor Jim Pendrill praised the work of the local dealmaking community despite a "year of great uncertainty", and said the "omens look as good as they have done for quite some time" for the community's future. The Dealmaker of the Year award was sponsored by Fox Lloyd Jones.

Deal of the Year
Winner: Andrew Page, management buyout (Phoenix Equity Partners)
One of the biggest deals in the past year, it had originally failed to complete a couple years earlier. But the £100m buyout took place with great support from the dealmaking community. HSBC, RBS, and Lloyds TSB provided new banking facilities, structured by Stuart Warriner of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Warriner also advised Phoenix Equity Partners, alongside Jonathan Jones of Hammonds. Andrew Page and the management team were advised by Yunus Seedat of Addleshaw Goddard and Christian Mayo of KPMG.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Winner: Sean Lippell, partner, Addleshaw Goddard
In the last few years Lippell led the team acting for Bridgepoint Capital, a longstanding client, on the buyout of Leeds Bradford Airport, while he has advised the Permira backed Principal Hayley Group on a number of transactions and has also continued to advise longstanding clients such as Symingtons and Autofil on various deals.
Turnaround/Rescue Deal of the Year
Winner: Endless for sale of Davy Markham
The sale of Davy Markham to Indian conglomerate Hindustan Dorr-Oliver was a highlight for many financiers over the past year. It was a particular triumph for Endless who backed a buyout of the then struggling business in 2007 which has now been transformed into a profitable market-leading engineering company.
