Shoosmiths expands Nottingham competition team
Law firm Shoosmiths has appointed Simon Barnes as a partner to join the competition team in the Nottingham office.
Barnes joins from law firm Hogan Lovells and has experience advising on competition law compliance, merger control, competition investigations and litigation.
He will work alongside Peter Andrews, partner and head of Shoosmiths' growing EU and competition unit.
With associate Sarah Livestro and solicitor Jaime Moore, the team advises the retailing, motor manufacturing and constructions sectors on UK and EU competition law and public procurement.
Andrews said: "Simon brings with him a wealth of experience, and has dealt with the Office of Fair Trading, the Competition Commission and the European Commission on behalf of companies under investigation, merging companies and complainants.
"He has also advised in relation to cases before the General Court of the European Union, in Luxembourg.
"All that, coupled with his experience of industries including food, brewing, video games, banking and transport, is sure to mean he'll prove a real asset to what is a successful and growing team."
