Gleeds expands in India

Birmingham-based Gleeds has opened a new office in India through its Indian subsidiary.

The management and construction consultancy's new office in the city of Pune aims to help it accommodate its expanding client base in the region.

It is the fifth office to open in India since the business first was established in the country in 2008.

The Pune operation will enable the company to grow in line with its increasing workload, Gleeds said.

Pune will become the primary control centre for a number of projects, including several for retailer Marks & Spencer.

"Pune is a city with a young and burgeoning population and developing industries across the IT, commercial, residential and retail sectors," director of Gleeds Birmingham Lindsay McCombe said.

"It is an ideal hub from which to serve the regional and national markets hence the opening of this office makes a fantastic addition to our existing premises in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru and provides an excellent opportunity for future growth."

About ten staff will work at the premises and will take the total number of Gleeds employees across the country to 120.
