Pinsent Masons advises on university merger
The Birmingham office of Pinsent Masons has advised on the merger of two Royal Charter universities.
The School of Pharmacy will now form part of University College London's (UCL) Faculty of Life Sciences. It is now known as the UCL School of Pharmacy.
It will continue to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in pharmaceutical science and offers a research facility which focuses on advancing medicines and healthcare.
The Birmingham office of the law firm was led by Nicola Hart, head of the universities group, and senior associate Gayle Ditchburn, assisted by Danielle Clifford.
"We are delighted to have advised on this transaction. The team delivered a timely result within a challenging regulatory framework," Hart said.
Pinsent Masons confirmed its merger with McGrigors last week (6 February) following a partner vote. The merger is expected to complete on 1 May.
The newly formed business will operate under the Pinsent Masons name and brand and will employ more than. 2,500 staff, including about 1,500 lawyers.
