Persimmon Homes to build in Kegworth
Almost seven acres of land in Leicestershire has been sold to Persimmon Homes.
The housebuilder purchased the land in Kegworth from real estate agency DTZ on an unconditional basis with outline planning permission for up to 104 houses.
Persimmon is planning to build 86 houses on the site, 30 per cent of which will be affordable homes.
The site, which is situated to the rear of an RBS data centre on the western edge of Kegworth, is made up of open grassland with trees and is in an elevated position with extensive views.
"Although the region's housing market has been badly affected by the economic downturn, this unconditional sale demonstrates that there is still strong appetite from the house builders to purchase sites on both an unconditional and conditional basis providing the location is right," said Iain McArthur, associate director at DTZ in Birmingham.
DTZ's residential team in Birmingham acted on behalf of the landowner RBS.
