Scientific and Technical Gases exports success
Booming exports have helped Staffordshire-based Scientific and Technical Gases almost double its turnover during the past three years.
The Newcastle-under-Lyme supplier of speciality gases has increased turnover to more than £4m during the three-year period, with more than 60 per cent connected to overseas orders.
The export percentage at the business, which supplies gases for calibrating gas safety equipment, was just a fifth in 2009.
"Most of our export growth has come from the EU, especially Germany, Holland, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia," business development manager Kate Leech said.
Its overseas success was recently recognised in the International Trade Award event, which is sponsored by UK Trade & Investment.
Leech added: "We have also been winning business in Australia, Singapore, China, India, the Middle East and South America, and will be targeting other new markets this year.
"Due to the UK recession we took the decision in 2008 to develop our export business and have generated our success with expert help."
