Coventry Arena Taxis expands
Coventry Arena Taxis has bought Allens Taxis as it continued to expand, with a new headquarters to be developed in the city.
Jhalman Singh, who owns Coventry Arena Taxis, has also invested in a site on Lockhurst Lane to create new offices for the company.
The rival company bought by Singh was established in 1938 by Aubrey Allen. The new site was bought through commercial property specialist Shortland Penn + Moore.
"We started the company from scratch six years ago and have, thankfully, despite current trends, continued to expand," Singh said.
"We wanted to create an office and base that staff would be proud to work in and will hopefully enhance the local business community. That's the reason we invested in such a prominent site.
"At the same time, we enquired about purchasing Allens Taxis and I am delighted a deal has been finalised."
The new headquarters will not be used as a taxi rank, but as a head office, with plans to rent out the rest of the plot for development, he added.
