£8m hotel opens in Leicester
A new 115-bedroom Ramada Encore hotel has opened its doors in Leicester after an £8m investment.
The seven-storey building on Charles Street, previously the Leicester headquarters of Norwich Union, has been overhauled, creating 35 full and part-time jobs in the city.
The three-star hotel, which had an £8m investment from building owner and businessman Indi Johal, will be operated by Akkeron Hotels Group under the Ramada brand.
General manager Henrik Jespersen said: "There was a gap in the market for us in Leicester, the design and quality of the bedrooms is unique to anything in the city already."
In addition to the 115 bedrooms, two meeting rooms are also available for corporate and business customers, with room for up to 60 delegates in a theatre-style meeting, or 18 in a boardroom meeting.
The hotel incorporates an all-day restaurant and bar called The Hub and includes a ground-floor Costa Coffee.
