East Mids companies in Sunday Times table
East Midlands companies have secured five places on The Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100 league table.
The information, to be published this weekend, ranks Britain's 100 private-equity-backed companies with the fastest-growing profits (ebitda) over the last two years.
The East Midlands' highest ranked company is Northampton-headquartered discount retailer 99p Stores, which stormed up the rankings to a top 20 place at 17, up from 84 last year. Founded by entrepreneur Nadir Lalani in January 2001, profits have grown an average 74 per cent a year over the past two years to an annualised £9.8m.
The company now has 150 outlets across the country, including 12 of its larger spin-off sites under the Family Bargains banner, and aims to have 600 stores in the next decade, with sales of more than £300m and 5,000 employees.
New to the table this year at 54 is plastic mouldings supplier Homelux Nenplas based in Ashbourne. It was born out of three separate businesses: Trent Valley Plastics and Nenplas Extrusions were formed in the mid-1970s and acquired by the McKechnie group of companies in 1987. These businesses then merged with Homelux in 1992.
Profits have grown an average 39 per cent a year over two year to £3.2m.
The other companies on the table are Kettering-based National Accident Helpline (70); telecoms services provider TTG in Derby (84); and Leicester-based GI Solutions Group (93).
