Sight and Sound Technology snaps up rival
Northampton-based Sight and Sound Technology has acquired The Force Ten Company (Forcetenco) for an undisclosed sum.
Forcetenco, based in Great Bookham, Surrey, started trading in 1967 and since 1989 has become a supplier of low vision aids and assistive hearing products for those with visual and hearing impairments.
The merger aims to help Sight and Sound Technology boost its range of technology for the visually impaired, adding further master distribution agreements to those of Freedom Scientific, AI Squared and Cambium (Kurzweil).
Sight and Sound is to continue to service and support all of the products previously purchased from Forcetenco.
Sight and Sound chief executive Glenn Tookey said: "The merger of the two companies integrates almost 50 years of knowledge and experience, creating a powerful operation in assistive technology for those with visual impairment."
Norman Lilly of Forcetenco added: "For us it was time to pass the good work we have been doing for more than 16 years into hands that could further develop the relationships that we have and build them into the UK's largest technology company for the blind, visually impaired and those with learning difficulties.
"We will still be involved and will help integrate the two businesses together to ensure that all of our customers have a seamless transfer to the new operation."
