San Carlo invests in Birmingham
Birmingham-headquartered San Carlo Group has invested £2.5m in a new Ventetian tapas bar.
'Fumo' is set to open in April and will be based in Waterloo Street, placed adjacent to the original San Carlo Italian restaurant in the city's Temple Street.
It is set to run along the lines of its Cicchetti Bar and Restaurant in Manchester, San Carlo said. It will include a bar serving wines, beers and cocktails with live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
The move comes as San Carlo has moved ahead with plans to expand internationally following the opening of its second Signor Sassi branded restaurant in Kuwait and a new venue in Beirut, overlooking the Marina.
A new Signor Sassi is scheduled to open in Bangkok in May.
San Carlo specialises in using fresh produce from Milan markets and has won various awards.
