£100m Castleward plans unveiled

Plans for the £100m development of the Castleward area of Derby will go on display today (27 January) at Westfield Shopping Centre.

Regeneration specialist Compendium Living is hosting the public information event.

The developer will reveal how it plans to regenerate the 30 acres of land linking Derby Midland Station and Westfield.

Currently industrial and amenity space, the redevelopment of Castleward will create up to 800 homes, 36,500 sq ft of commercial space, new community and leisure facilities, a school and open spaces.

Compendium managing director Dave Bullock said: "We believe our ideas will give Castleward the 21st-century boost it craves, creating a high-quality community and creating future jobs in a tough economic climate.

"This project is Compendium Living's biggest to date and we're delighted to be able to draw on the expert knowledge of our partners in order to develop a sustainable community and the city's new front door."

Plans will be on display at Westfield from 27 to the 28 at Copecastle Square on level one.

The team said it will take account of feedback from the event before submitting a planning application for the first phase of the development.
