Timico opens £5m data centre
Timico has opened the doors of its multimillion-pound data centre in Newark-on-Trent.
Almost 200 guests attended the managed service provider's Nottinghamshire headquarters to celebrate the completion of the first phase of Timico's strategy to build the "most advanced" data centre in the Midlands.
It is claimed the £5m facility will have enough capacity to store a high-resolution digital image of everyone on the planet.
The centre represents the latest generation of cloud computing and storage systems, and is controlled by a state-of-the-art Network Operations Centre (NOC).
Timico chairman Tim Radford said: "We are celebrating completion of phase one of a strategy to develop data centres that are up there with the best in the country. We believe that this new facility will prove to be a real asset for the area's business community, helping to make our region's companies more competitive and, ultimately, more profitable.
"The centre also represents a sizeable and strategic investment by Timico. I think the fact we have made it here in Newark speaks volumes about our commitment to the Midlands business community."
