Second stage Shrewsbury plans submitted
Alaska Property Group has submitted plans for the second phase of the £30m Shrewsbury Business Park development.
More than 160,000 sq ft of office space is planned for the 12-acre site, which is hoped to discourage growing businesses from moving from the town to somewhere bigger, the company said.
The designs by architect DGA reveals 17 new units arranged around a central avenue, 'Anchorage Avenue', with designated cycle routes, storage and walkways linking it with surrounding streets and bus routes.
When fully developed, Shrewsbury Business Park is expected to support about 1,500 jobs.
Alaska managing director Alan Hay said: "This new development would create further opportunities for local businesses, and regional and national companies seeking a presence in the area, and discourage expanding companies from relocating out of Shrewsbury to larger towns in the surrounding area.
"The first phase of Shrewsbury Business Park has been very successful, fulfilling demand from companies wanting high-quality business space close to Shrewsbury. The second phase of SBP will strengthen what has gone on before and reinforce its success."
Developed by Alaska, the first phase of Shrewsbury Business Park opened in 2001 and provides 161,460 sq ft of business space. It is home to more than 15 companies, including Handelsbanken, NFU, Enviros, Hilton Hotels and Alaska itself, as well Shropshire County Council.
Indigo Planning advised Alaska on the second-phase plans. Agents for Shrewsbury Business Park are Pooks and Samuel Wood.
