Rolls-Royce wins £23m Brazilian contracts
Rolls-Royce has bagged two contracts worth £23m to design and equip seven vessels for a Brazilian ship company.
The Derby-based power systems giant will work on the four oil spill recovery vessels and three bunker tankers for Navegação São Miguel. The vessels will be equipped to prevent environmental damage from oil spills and have the capacity to transfer recovered oil for proper onshore disposal.
Anders Almestad, Rolls-Royce's president for offshore, said: "Rolls-Royce continues to win contracts in the competitive Brazilian market.
"These vessels combine a proven Rolls-Royce design with a range of mission critical onboard technology, which has been specifically designed for the demanding deepwater oil and gas market. Our innovative technology will help to ensure that offshore companies can deliver their challenging operations safely."
All seven vessels will be equipped with advanced Rolls-Royce technology to support effective manoeuvring, cargo handling and safe operation. They are expected to be delivered before the end of 2014.
Rolls-Royce employs more than 39,000 staff across the globe and has manufacturing and service facilities in 50 countries. The company's order book was £61.4bn at 30 June 2011.
