Deloitte appoints partner in Birmingham
Deloitte has appointed former KPMG partner Simon Thompson to head up a new financial services transaction team from its Birmingham base.
The team will advise on transactions across the whole of the financial services sector from all of the accountancy firm's regional locations outside London.
After qualifying as an auditor, Thompson spent more than 12 years working with financial services organisations in the UK, as well as across Europe, North America, Africa and the Far East.
He said: "We have seen an increasing volume of transactional activity within the financial services sector and this is set to continue. We anticipate even more deal activity, particularly within the building and friendly societies, non-standard lenders and other insurers."
Chris Loughran, practice senior partner for Deloitte in the Midlands, added: "This initiative is in response to an increasing demand for our services in a sector that continues to be an important part of the national and local economy.
"In particular, we are seeing great interest in Birmingham and the surrounding area as a great place to locate financial services businesses. The heightened deal activity in this sector is only set to continue and there is a clear demand for local, on-the-ground insight when advising on transactions around the UK."
