Number 11, with a bullet

New analysis released by Creditsafe reveals Tesco was the most searched for company in the last 12 months, with Lord Alan Sugar named the most searched for company director. As you can't turn a corner without walking into a Tesco these days, it's little wonder the retailer has been named as one of the most searched companies in the UK.

Reality television stars lead the way in the list of most searched company directors, with Lord Sugar, star of The Apprentice, topping the list of searches closely followed by business moguls made famous by Dragons' Den – Duncan Bannatyne, Hilary Devey, James Caan, Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis.

With Peter Jones and Simon Cowell also making the top 10 most searched directors the findings demonstrate the growing power of television in influencing perceptions of what constitutes a successful business leader.

Michael Norcross, star of the The Only Way Is Essex and owner of the Sugarhut Nightclub highlighted in the popular ITV2 show was named the 11th most searched company director.

Truly, this is the end of days.

Walking on water

Nottingham man Richard Heaton has been appointed as the new captain of the Queen's favourite cruise ship, Hebridean Island Cruises' luxury Hebridean Princess.

Heaton joined Hebridean Island Cruises in 2002 and was present on both occasions the Queen chartered Hebridean Princess for private holidays around the Western Isles of Scotland. He has been chief officer, 2nd in command, of the vessel for six years.

Hebridean Princess offers guests a selection of diverse itineraries around Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, including the new ‘Footloose in Ireland’ itinerary – the ship’s first walking cruise in Ireland, Footloose through the Isles, Footloose on Skye and Footloose through the Celtic Fringe.

We're not being funny, like, but if we pay to go on a cruise, then we want to do some sailing.

Planning permission

If you thought Easter eggs in the shops on the first day back at work after the New Year was pushing it, then that's nothing compared to The Curve in Leicester, which has already announced its Christmas 2012 show.

So, if you're a feeling a bit glum after spending too much on the credit card over the festive period, then you can always whack some more on there and book tickets to go and see Hello, Dolly! in December. Forward thinking, you see.
