Walsall economy in £1m WOW boost

Share | |

A support programme for Walsall businesses has created or safeguarded more than 380 jobs and added £1m to the local economy, it has been claimed.

Walsall council-funded Winning Opportunities in Walsall (WOW), a two year business support programme designed to help companies in the borough, said it has helped about 150 businesses.

Forty-three news jobs have been created and a £500,000 machine for the auto sector has been developed through the programme.

The figures were released at the final WOW event, held this week in the town.

"The project leads, the innovation change partners and, importantly, the companies have all worked together to bring new jobs and increased economic activity to Walsall," said Councillor Adrian Andrew, Walsall Council cabinet member for regeneration.

"It is without doubt a great example of how business support should be delivered in the future."
