Commercial deals to drop, says Rigby & Co

The new year "doesn't look promising" for commercial agency deals, Derby-based Rigby & Co has told Insider.

Russell Rigby, director of the commercial property specialist, said the new year was looking "slightly better" than 2011, but would not be without its challenges.

The company, which specialises in public sector consultancy, said business may improve marginally.

"Run of the mill commercial agency deals are down on 12 months ago, and 2012 doesn't look promising for that side of the business," said Rigby. "Confidence during 2011 dipped sharply in October."

He added that the company had been heavily involved in several major new foodstore developments, which helped balance the books in 2011.

"But the appetite of the big five national operators remains hungry, which should help us through the next 12 challenging months," he added.
