Added-value businesses will triumph in 2012, says Hollis
'Quality' is set to be the buzzword for West Midlands businesses in 2012, according to KPMG's regional chairman Steve Hollis.
He told Insider that "quality businesses offering outstanding service and unique products" will be those that emerge stronger in the coming year.
West Midlands companies should now concentrate on "battening down the hatches" and remain focused on seeking out new opportunities in economies which are experiencing growth, he said.
Hollis, based in the accountancy firm's Birmingham office, said that the downbeat note on which 2011 has ended will mean businesses face an even more challenging environment.
"There is no quick fix to this problem and we will have to weather the storm as governments stabilise their balance sheets and banks and business adjust to the changed environment," he said.
"Paralysis by analysis is a real danger though, and I would urge any business to remain focused upon its own path and help break the self fulfilling cycle of low confidence. Let's make 2012 a year to build the platform to exploit better times ahead."
