William Davis wins £1m medical scheme
A disused primary school is to be revamped into a medical centre by Loughborough contractor and developer William Davis.
The Grade II-listed Loughborough building, originally built in 1897 to house Rosebery Primary School, will become the new home to Rosebery Medical Centre, part of Charnwood Medical Group.
Charnwood is set to relocate one of its existing surgeries from nearby Storer Road onto the site.
When complete, the new centre will provide residents with a doctors' surgery, consultation rooms, pharmacy and patient car parking.
The contract is worth more than £1m to Loughborough-based William Davis.
Eddie Davis, chairman at the construction company, said: "Since Rosebery School’s closure in 2006, this beautiful building has been in desperate need of regeneration and to see it rejuvanated and restored to its former glory and benefit the local community again, will be a real pleasure."
In addition to the new medical centre, seven two-bedroom terrace town houses will be built on the site on behalf of Nottingham Community Housing Association. They will be available to rent from July 2012.
