Miller Construction has been appointed to work on Leicester City Council's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which is valued at £44m.

The company will be the council's construction partner for phases three and four of the BSF scheme which comprises six schools with work carried out totalling £43.9m.

After completing the first two phases, work is expected to commence on the first school in phase three, the Children’s Hospital School, in summer 2012.

David Martin, BSF programme director at Leicester City Council, said: "As part of the Leicester consortium, Miller Construction are valued partners in our BSF programme and we welcome, not only the close partnership working which is delivering transformed schools, but also the opportunities for employment this programme brings to Leicester city."

Miller Construction commenced works on Rushey Mead Secondary School in May of this year, the first school in the second phase of the programme which will deliver three new schools.

The £16m design and build project involves remodelling and a major rebuild of the school campus with works due for completion in May 2013.
