Rolls-Royce wins £210m nuclear reactor deal
Rolls-Royce has won a €250m (£209.8m) supply contract for a French nuclear reactor modernisation programme.
The Derby-based global power systems company was chosen by France-based nuclear energy company AREVA to supply safety instrumentation and control (I&C) technologies and systems for the programme.
The systems will be installed in the 20-strong French fleet of 1,300 MW nuclear reactors which are operated by Electricité de France (EDF).
Benoit Chabre, president of instrumentation and control at Rolls-Royce, said: "We are proud of our relationship with Areva and our long partnership with EDF which spans over 40 years.
"We are pleased that they have once again put their trust in our world-class I&C technologies which help to ensure the safety and performance of their reactors."
Rolls-Royce will provide the I&C technology for reactor protector systems and the nuclear instrumentation system, incorporating its spinline technology.
