Yearsley invests £1.4m in its fleet

Cold storage and distribution company Yearsley Group, which has an operation in Coleshill, has invested £1.4m in a fleet of 20 new trucks.

The Heywood-based company, which recently announced a £2.2m investment in solar panels at two of its cold stores, has taken delivery of the new tractor units. They will be based at five of Yearsley’s 12 depots across the UK.

"This represents significant investment and is part of our ongoing strategy of replacing vehicles to ensure they remain as environmentally friendly and cost-efficient as possible," said Yearsley Group’s head of logistics, Mark Haslam.

"These vehicles are the first we have ordered from MAN and we believe that they are ideally suited to our operation."

Earlier this year, Yearsley revealed it was to take on 150 new employees after securing planning consent for a £20m expansion of its facilities in Rochdale. The business said the expansion would swell its staff numbers by a third to 450 and create an additional 100 construction jobs through the ten-month build programme.
