CAPPitalise in Birmingham unveiling
The Birmingham office of law firm Cobbetts has joined forces with Birmingham Science Park Aston (BSPA) to launch a support network for technology entrepreneurs in the Midlands.
CAPPitalise gives advice to start-ups on matters like protecting intellectual property rights. It plans to host a series of networking events and lectures throughout 2012.
Adrian Cutler, partner at Cobbetts, said: "The current economic climate is extremely challenging for businesses, not least for start-ups.
"Lack of funding and cash flow issues have been a serious concern for firms over the past number of years, however, while there are certainly challenges to traverse, there is still opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to grow their business with an innovative idea."
Simon Jenner, head of incubation at BSPA, added: "We see that there is support available from the professional services, but so often it is not tailored to the particular needs of early-stage technology companies. CAPPitalise will help fill this gap, and push the development of the growing tech scene in Birmingham."
