Education partnership signs up JLR
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has become the first manufacturer to pledge its support for a West Midlands-based business-education partnership.
The Warwickshire manufacturing giant signed up to BE Connected days after it was launched by business education partnership BXL.
BXL works with companies to offer bespoke packages of support which will help them link more effectively to schools and young people.
Partnership members are offered greater returns on investment for businesses, the chance to raise their profile within the community and offer employees training opportunities.
John Ling, chief executive of BXL, said: "To officially welcome Jaguar Land Rover as one of the first members of BE Connected is excellent news and a great way to get the membership offer started.
"It underlines the company’s continued commitment to working with young people to give them real life opportunities and to gain skills that will help them further in life."
JLR provides about 7,000 visits per year for young people and teachers.
Les Ratcliffe, head of community relations at Jaguar Land Rover, said: "Quality, work-related education experience has never been so important, raising the awareness of engineering and manufacturing as real career opportunities is key to our investment in the community."
