Sales creep up at Travis Perkins
Builders' merchant Travis Perkins said that group turnover for the last 11 months is up 5.5 per cent on last year, despite a fall in delivered sales through its Wickes division.
The Northampton-based company told the Stock Exchange that total turnover in its merchanting division was up 11.3 per cent for the first 11 months of 2011.
Like-for-like turnover per trading day increased by 8 per cent in the two months to 30 November.
Its Wickes division produced a 0.6 per cent increase in turnover for the 47 week trading period to 26 November. Like-for-like delivered sales were down 1.6 per cent.
Wickes' core product sales, which represent about 80 per cent of turnover, increased on a like-for-like basis by 1.6 per cent.
Kitchen and bathroom delivered sales were down 13.3 per cent, reflecting "continued poor and weakening consumer confidence for major purchases", said the parent company.
For the last eight weeks total like-for-like delivered sales were down 6.8 per cent.
Total turnover for BSS for the first 11 months of 2011 was up by 2.4 per cent.
Travis Perkins said it remained on track to meet its net debt target of £600m at the year end.
