Shepherd makes Lawyers2You move

Share | |

Birmingham lawyer Bernard Shepherd has quit one of the city’s biggest firms to help launch the controversial Lawyers2You brand.

Shepherd has left Gateley to become a consultant at Birmingham’s Blakemores Solicitors and advise on its Lawyers2You start-up.

It operates in a different way to traditional law set-ups in recruiting clients at stands in airports, shopping centres and sports events, handling work though a call centre on Great Charles Street.

Blakemores has already ploughed £5m into the project and plans roll Lawyers2You out across the country through franchises and partnerships with other firms.

Shepherd, president of the West Midland Association of Law Societies, said: "While some firms have been caught napping, Blakemores has grasped the opportunities and in the Midlands has established a blueprint for delivering legal services in a ground-breaking way. I’m looking forward to working with the firm and rolling out this exciting concept around the country.

"The combined forces of recession, increasing regulation, potential competition and difficulties accessing capital for growth, means the law firm of the future will take a very different shape."
