Morgan Sindall in £250m contract boost
Morgan Sindall Group, based in Warwickshire, has been selected to work on two major development schemes worth a total of nearly £250m.
The construction group's urban regeneration division Muse Developments has been selected as preferred partner for the £145m Stockport Grand Central Station scheme.
Stockport Council had been procuring a development partner since it purchased the site in January.
The development will include the construction of an office quarter, public space outside the railway station, a hotel and improved car parking.
Muse will now be recommended to Stockport Council's executive in a report to be presented on 16 December.
In the second of the contract wins, Morgan Sindall's Staffordshire-based affordable housing division Lovell signed an agreement with Barnet Homes, worth about £103m over ten years.
Through the deal, Lovell will provide refurbishment and electrical work across 15,000 houses. Barnet Homes manages and maintains homes and estates on behalf of Barnet Council.
Work is due to commence in April 2012.
Paul Smith, chief executive of Morgan Sindall Group, said: "This is another important win for Lovell which builds on the response maintenance work we acquired as part of the acquisition from the administrators of Connaught.
"Today's announcement underlines our leading position in affordable housing. Lovell's full service offering will mean we can deliver the highest quality upgrade and response maintenance work to the Barnet Council housing stock."
