Something for the weekend
Absolutely fabulous
The dreaded Gok Wan effect has made its way into the straight-laced world of snooker, it seems.
Former Snooker World Champion Neil Robertson has invested in clothing by Leicester tailor Ketan Jethwa.
Jethwa has created two bespoke three-piece suits for the 2010 world number one player. One in dark blue cloth and one in charcoal herringbone.
Robertson explained how he came across Jethwa's business, Tailoring UK when he was practicing and needed a waistcoat and trousers to me made. He went in and has kept returning since.
The Australian said how tailored clothing is better than buying off-the-peg when it comes to playing snooker.
"You need to be able to move fully to get across the table, so that you can get the angles you need. If you’re restricted by what you’re wearing then you’re going to find it very difficult. The shirts also need to be longer so that they don't come out when you’re leaning across."
Neil, we bet you look too divine, darling.
May for the force be with him
The University of Leicester invited Jim 'Jedi Jim' Eastwood from BBC One's The Apprentice to give final year students a masterclass in personal impact when seeking a job on Wednesday.
He ran a motivational session on Wednesday (7 December) exclusively to Historical Studies students at the university with a focus on helping to promote themselves to prospective employers.
This year, Lord Sugar's right hand man Nick Hewer praised Jim's excellent sales and negotiation skills which earned him his Star Wars-inspired nickname.
However, you might also remember that Eastwood was accused by Sugar's right-hand woman Margaret Mountford of "swallowing a book clichés". Here’s hoping his appearance in Leicester was a bit more revealing.
On yer bike
A cyclist from Sale near Manchester pedaled 140 miles to raise money for the charity Age UK this week and a Nottinghamshire hotel made sure it was on hand to provide some much needed pampering at the end of it.
David Naggs, aged 31 and a Wilkinson stock supervisor, will cycled from the company's Manchester Sale store on Wednesday (7 December) to the head office in Manton Wood, Nottinghamshire and the Clumber Park Hotel and Spa pledged their support by offering a complimentary overnight stay.
"I do as much as I can for charity and in the past I've hosted charity nights, completed a 32-mile run and also tackled the ten kilometre Manchester marathon all in the name of cancer research and the kidney foundation," explains Nagg.
"Having undergone a transplant a few years ago due to kidney failure and also suffering from a neurophaphy disease which causes issues with movements in my feet and legs, when I undertake a challenge, it's exactly that," he said.
