Jobs go as Mercedes dealership folds

Share | |

More than 170 jobs have been lost following the collapse of car dealer H&L Garages. Administrators are looking to sell the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership's assets.

BDO partners Paul Bates and Graham Newton were appointed joint administrators of the company, which has operations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, on Friday (2 December). H&L had dealerships in Boston, Lincoln, South Killinghome, Hull and York.

Following their appointment, administrators made 176 out of a total of 194 employees redundant.

"Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions adversely affected the business," said BDO business restructuring partner Paul Bates.

"The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate risks to stakeholders and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of creditors."
