Express & Star jobs under threat
Up to 50 jobs are at risk across West Midlands newspaper titles Express & Star and Shropshire Star, say reports.
The newspapers' publisher Midlands News Association (MNA) told reporters the "disappointing" move came after a challenging trading year. Managing director Alan Harris said: "2011 has been an extremely challenging trading year and 2012 is not looking any better."
The blow to Wolverhampton-based Express & Star was announced in the wake of more than 100 job losses made at the title earlier this year.
Union bosses have said the move will "compromise" the papers' editorial quality.
The cuts are expected to be made in January, after a 30-day consultation between the papers' bosses and staff.
MNA, which also publishes titles in Shropshire, announced it would close its local radio station The Severn and The Wyre at the end of the year.
