Coffee maker drinks to Birmingham launch
A Birmingham-based entrepreneur is set to launch a new brand of Jamaican coffee in the city.
Ammo Talwar, managing director of House of Blue Mountain, will market Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee (JABLUM) from 2012.
The coffee is grown only in the Jamaican Blue Mountains which, like champagne, is said to be a legally defined geographical area.
Initially, the product will be available through Birmingham coffee chain Urban Coffee Company on Church Street.
Talwar said: "The Blue Mountain range where the coffee is grown is rich in volcanic soil and has a perfect balance of sunlight and protective shading mists, which produces a beautiful tasting coffee.
"JABLUM beans are sourced from 6,000 smallholders and family-run farms, and are still collected and worked mostly by hand. JABLUM offers coffee drinkers a uniquely deep, rich and authentically Jamaican taste which we’re delighted to be able to offer to coffee lovers in the UK."
