Kraft to cut 200 jobs through investment drive
Two Midlands-based Kraft Food sites are to be affected by the company's plans to scrap up to 200 jobs.
Kraft's Bournville and Marlbrook, Hereford sites are two of three which will lose a combined 200 roles under the US food giant's investment plans for it UK operations.
The company, which bought Bournville-based Cadbury in a controversial £11.7bn deal in 2010, said the roles would be lost in the chocolate manufacturing division.
Announcing plans to invest £50m in its UK biscuit making operations, Kraft pledged to create 20 jobs at its Sheffield confectionery plant, but warned that jobs losses would take place as a result of the restructure.
The company added that it would be investing a further £44m in the three affected sites.
"Kraft Foods expects approximately 200 roles in chocolate manufacturing to be affected by changes resulting from the investment programme," said the company.
"In 2012 and 2013, the company will work closely with employees and their representatives to minimise the impact through redeployment and a managed voluntary redundancy scheme."
A spokesman confirmed to Insider that the affected sites would be Bournville, Marlbrook and Chirk, North Wales.
